Day 43 - Baddeck, Nova Scotia

We left early on this Thursday, July 12th, to get to Baddeck and tour the Alexander Graham Bell Museum.  It was great for me as I'm hoping to have Wifi and do my blog for the last two days.  Done!!!    For most of the 235 miles, it was uneventful.  We travelled mostly inland - saw a lot of farmland and rolling hills with a lot of trees - just beautiful - reminded me of Pennsylvania.  However, just ten miles back from our destination, our log told us to make a turn onto a coastline road - NOT!!!  It was a dead end.  We were behind three other rigs so we all had to unhook our toads, and fortunately, there was enough room for us to turn around, get hooked up again and take a different route to the campground.  The only glitch was with Rod, who had a problem with his bumper.  As soon as we got to our campground, he took his Jeep into town to get it fixed so it will be ready tomorrow.   Now, we find out that we aren't doing the tour until Saturday morning.  Oh well, have to be flexible!!

This is the Canso Causeway, the deepest causeway in the world at 2l7 feet. Opened in l955.  Took l0 million tons of rock to build.  The bridge will move for oncoming water traffic. The Causeway crosses the Strait of Canso connecting Cape Breton Island by road to Nova Scotia Peninsula.  Before this was built, people had to use a ferry.   Like everywhere, there is a lighthouse.

Between Happy Hour and dinner, Bruce took a hike up the hill.  That is our campground and our RV.  As you can tell, he is up quite a ways.  There is quite a huge bridge crossing the Bras D'Or Lake and a couple boaters out enjoying the beautiful day.  We have been so fortunate with great weather for the past couple weeks.  Someone told us that the high temp's are most unusual for this area.

We played cards again and guess what - us girls won all three games of Black Queen!!!   Yeah and it's about time.  Speaking of time, I'm going to get a chance to get to bed early tonight - l0:30 p.m. which is good because we will be getting up early tomorrow to catch a bus for all day touring.  Have a good night!!
